Science Teachers’ Views about the Transition from Primary Education to Secondary Education

Summary/Abstract: In parallel with the changes and developments in educational policy and development in our country, some changes occur in transition to secondary education exams. At this point; teachers which are one of the most affected by the process take in the views about the transition model from primary education to secondary education. And this, it is thought to be important in terms of literature. The aim of this study is to obtain science teachers’ views about TEOG. This study which is used case study is participated 16 science teachers who are working in the different provinces. Data were collected with interview form of eight open-ended questions. These questions are about the effect of common exams to instructional approach, evaluation approach or instructional technology, the impact on the students, suggestions of teachers, etc. In the analysis of data was used content analysis which is commonly used in qualitative research. According to the data obtained from the study; teachers said that they were going to change in teaching approach with common exams. The main reason for this situation is thought to raise the issue as stated in the teachers’ views. Recommendations were made based on the results obtained from the study.
