Summary/Abstract: The paper seeks an explanation for the way media and their active audiences present personalities and their behavior. A research of the ways Oscar Pistorius was presented before and after his girlfriend’s death is supported by reviewed theories concerning the social construction of reality. His case, among many aspects, helps stress the excesses media make when writing their stories, the way the spectacular perspective prevails upon balanced information in their pages. Were analyzed articles published in Time, le Nouvel Observateur and l‟Express between august 2012 and september 2014; were also examined commentaries made by readers and several pages on Facebook dedicated to the paralympic athlete.
