Monetary value of housework – empirical estimation based on time use survey in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the results of estimation of housework in Poland in 2012. The estimation was based on the market cost method. Empirical estimation of household production is an important problem. According to Eurostat recommendations, satellite accounts of household production will be a permanent element of the system of social statistics. Regular estimations of housework, made in the framework of household production accounts, could help improvie social policy in different countries and increase public awareness of the problem.
