Summary/Abstract: In the article the relationship between economic theory, economic policy and care is presented. Care is a significant element of economy, since it provides one of resources – labour. Economic relations also influence quantity and quality of care provided by the society. Economics as a discipline is dominated by neoclassical schools that promote market as the best mechanism for arranging economic and social relations. Such a vision is used very often to design public policy. In the article a different view is adopted – the perspective of feminist economics. Feminist economists have made care and care related issues a central theme for their considerations. At the same time the active role of state in provisioning process is underlined by feminist economics, and this leads to different policy prescriptions.
