Summary/Abstract: There are significant changes in the allocation and participation of social roles of men and women in Poland, and in other EU countries. The overall long-term shifts can be observed based on the analysis of time which is allocated by household members on household work and is recorded in the Time Use Survey. Household work could be also considered in a broader sense, i.e. in Household Satellite Account. Based on the household production analyses, its implementation and regular calculation could provide the real size, the estimation of non-market household production and the determination of its percentage relation to GDP. The results would also have a direct application in such areas as family, equality and labour policy. Furthermore, the Household Satellite Account can provide information on shifts in terms of well-being and quality of social life.
