Summary/Abstract: The contemporary theatre breaks with the illustrative character, being an art that operates within dependent sign-system and tools. It is a returning and dominant element of new visual culture and multimedia adapted on the turn of the century in our daily theatre. The paper is about “The Magic Flute”, presented by the company of Móricz Zsigmond Theatre in Nyíregyháza. The particularity of the playback opera performance, played by Csaba Tasnádi and staged by Andrea Ladányi, is that it concentrates around the pair of movement and spectacle instead of reinterpreting the framework of the form an exceeding the habitual bel canto and scene in opera plays, the prime of the song stops the sound effects totally, played during the prosaic text in many scenes. The songs – unusual in operating performances – relay the recording (conducted by György Solti).
