Summary/Abstract: Institution of Ombudsman during the second half of the twentieth century has experienced an expansion, which cannot be compared with any other body or institution. This phenomenon, as well as characteristics of Ombudsman in different countries ware expertly analyzed by Professor Slavoljub Popović, in his paper “The Ombudsman in world and our country.” Professor Popović, among many other functions, was also a Fellow of the Committee for Ombudsman of the International Association of Lawyers (International Bar Association). This paper is dedicated to a memory on the person and work of professor Popović, whose academic interest in various subjects of Administrative Law and Science of Public Administration is an example for younger generations that total commitment to science, does not necessarily mean effort and difficulty, if it is accompanied by a great love for this call.
