Summary/Abstract: We study the relationship of financial literacy in the sphere of using digital technologies with the personal characteristics of Russian students with an emphasis on the gender aspect of this problem. The research is based on the data collected through the sociological survey of students of majoring in Economics of the Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. As a result, a low level of financial literacy in application of digital technologies was found for both genders, but financial illiteracy turned out to be higher for girls than for boys. Such personal characteristics as gullibility, extravagance and optimism appeared to be more pronounced for girls, whereas risk appetite, propensities to innovations and illegal actions were more characteristic of boys. By means of the Ward method implemented in SPSS, four clusters of boys and five clusters of girls were distinguished, which differed in the level of financial literacy and other personal characteristics, as well as in their internal correlations. Based on the description of each cluster, the possible types of financial behavior of girls and boys were characterized, and the directions of educational work with students belonging to different behavioral groups, were identified.
