Summary/Abstract: In transition countries, the legitimacy deficit of institutions is manifested in the accumulated and random pressure that the society as a whole exerts on the public institutions which are obliged to respond within a relatively short period of time to a number of ambivalent, varied and frequently contradictory requests, either inherited or new ones. There is a large number of factors whose impact has significantly reduced the legitimacy capacity of political institutions of the state, such as: the inherited traditional standpoints, the negative effects on the market (economy), destructive conflicts of interest, the unsuccessful reunion of the liberal and the social welfare doctrine, huge election expectations, etc. The pluralism of the polarized ideological subcultures and the conflicting political aspirations significantly shape and dominate the overall political incompetence and inability to govern or manage state affairs, diminish the confidence in and support to the institutions, enhance the likelihood towards anti-democratic dissolution, and increase the resistance towards the positive outcome of the transition processes.
