Summary/Abstract: The tension between asylum policy and human rights has been evident in recent years. This article presents current relevant issues at EU level. Figures of people in need of international protection across Europe highlight the importance of this area. Authorities have made efforts to manage the situation, but corrections are needed and there is no perfect response to this crisis.
