Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the patriotic themes in the works of the Danish writer HansChristian Andersen. These considerations are based on selected “songs about the fatherland”written by the author discussed in the perspective of the program of the Danish nationalRomantic era. Based on the analytical material, the author carries out the reconstruction ofAndersen’s vision of the fatherland, pointing to its multidimensionality dictated by thehistorical and literary context. Focusing on lyric poetry, the article also contributes to thebroadening of Andersen’s reception in Poland to include the genres marginalized so far,giving a more complete picture of the fairy tale writer’s works.
