Summary/Abstract: The author analyses Antoni Słonimski’s satirical writings and reviews his ties to cabarets and theatres, analysing selected works: political puppet shows, jokes, puns, etc. She also presents the writer’s satirical contributions to Wiadomości Literackie, for which he wrote critical reviews, feuilletons and polemical articles, which often aroused lots of controversy. The last part of the article looks at the literary and stage reception of Słonimski’s comedies Murzyn warszawski [The Warsaw Negro], Lekarz bezdomny [Homeless doctor]and Rodzina [The Family]
