Summary/Abstract: The article looks at the presence of Jewish humour in Polish-language Jewish press in the years 1918-1939. The source materials were the following periodicals: Chwila, Dziennik Nowy, Dzienniczek dla Dzieci i Młodzieży, Ewa, Kurier Nowy, Lektura, Mały Przegląd, Nasz Przegląd, Nasza Opinia, Nowe Słowo, Nowy Dziennik, Nowy Głos, Okienko na Świat and Opinia. This selection includes both magazines addressed to grown-ups and to children because it was important to look at humour content targeted on various demographics. The analysis is divided by subjects (political or otherwise), and by forms of expression (e.g., jokes, anecdotes, cartoons). Special mention is due to translations of short pieces by Moshe Nadir (pen name of Yitzhok Rayz), Yosef Tunkler and Sholem Aleykhem. The last topic was a review of brief theoretical articles seeking to define Jewish humour (articles by Jakub Appenszlak, Jakub Rappaport or Gerszon Lewin).
