Summary/Abstract: “Food security” represents a specific concept, connected to a multi-dimensional perspective on security, increasingly important during the 21st, concerning the inter-state relations and the global system, as such. Mainly, the role of nation-state is continuingly becoming important within the security field (despite the rivalry made by non-state actors, concerning the exercise of many traditional state functions, such as the mission to offer to the citizens a decent level of life, to ensure independence and sovereignty over the soil and subsoil resources, as the material part of the „one nation survival and well-being on a long term“ notion, but also, as a main objective of the national interest of each state). The present paper pursues the identification of some key-elements for the definition of the „food security” concept, inclusively from the perspective of the right to a healthy and clean environment (as an essential aspect for the respect of human rights – the right to a decent level of life, the right to health, the right to physical and psychical integrity etc.-).
