Summary/Abstract: The doctrine considers that citizenship can be viewed from the perspective of constitutional law both as a legal institution and the status of persons recognized by a particular state. As a legal institution, citizenship is seen as a set of legal rules governing the acquisition or loss of citizenship, and the social relations that this status requires. This study analyzes the concept of citizenship from these two perspectives and also from the point of view European Union, because, for a few years, the citizen of the member states are also considered to be European citizens.
