THE IMPORTANCE OF ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY IN ACHIEVING REGIONAL STABILITY

Summary/Abstract: Continuing degradation of the environment, limited access to natural resources and transboundary shipment of hazardous materials pose a threat to national and regional security and stability and can lead to conflicts. Reducing or even eliminating these problems is a factor of stability. In this paper we propose to analyze some of the most serious environmental issues that can seriously affect regional stability without protective measures and cooperation in the affected area.
