Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the problem of adaptation to climate change in Germany in relation to the security policy of this country. The analysis covered the content, the process of creating, monitoring and evaluating of the German Adaptation Strategy to Climate Change adopted by the Federal Government in 2008 as a result of international commitments and national needs within the civil protection. Taking into account forecasts regarding future environmental changes, the article points to socio-economic sectors particularly exposed to climate change. On the example of the energy industry and civil protection, the author undertook to find relations between the security policy and the administratively controlled adaptation process. Analysis of the contents of the White Paper (2016) as a key document on German security policy has shown that climate change issues and adaptation to their effects are a reference point for protective and preventive actions taken by the services as part of their responsibility to ensure security in the state.
