Summary/Abstract: The following questions are discussed: what was done in the field of old Bulgarian music recently and what are the achievements in this field? What are the specifics in old music and is there anything unique that could distinguish it from the “musics” of the other Orthodox countries whose roads are closely interwoven? What is the system of values during the Middle Ages to which the men of letters involved in music have adhered? What is the role of church music during the National Revival and what are the parameters that “turned the key” to the new in it?
