Summary/Abstract: This passage from the monography on Albert Camus deals with the influence and circumstances under which the famous essay »The Myth of Sisyphe« originated. The reception of the essay immediately upon publishing and in the later period has been pointed out. A special .emphasis was put on the analysis and comment on Camus' relation to existentialism and to Sartre’s philosophic and literary works.
