The Securitate after Securitate

Summary/Abstract: Marius Oprea’s book “Mostenitorii Securitatii“ recently published at the Humanitas Publishing House is in the author’s of this article’s opinion rather a newspaper investigation a than a history book, thoroughly documented. Nevertheless the inquiry on this affair, the evolution of the Securitate staff after 1989 lead to three main groups: the first one consisting of those who become prosperous businessmen and politicians, the second comprising those who made a successful career and become high rank officers in military structures and the third group “the dummies” who retired from activity and prefer to live out of their retirement income. A further social history of the Securiate would be a most interesting topic concludes the author.
