Summary/Abstract: The essential strategic rift between Est and Vest – the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea – was reactivated. The illusion that, finally, the ancient conflict between European and Asian Russia, on the one hand, and Western Europe and the United States of America, on the other hand, has ended is to dispel. The reality of the pointed fangs again. In fact, it was surmised that such things will happen, whereas Mackinder and Spykman’s theories have not stopped any moment should not constitute the political support of the West, opposite to the Eurasian pivot, while Russia has not stopped any moment to develop policies and strategies to ensure the unhampered exit to the warm Ocean. Summit in Vilnius of Eastern partnership has shown that it is in fact reality. Russia has perceived this reality as a new step in an Anconda-strategy, and the West as an act of Russia hostility toward the West and the ex-Soviet countries that have opted for a democratic path, in occidental-style. Between them lies also Ukraine. Only that Ukraine is not a country like any other, nor as a simple buffer country between East and West, but a former unional Republic with an essential strategic role in the policies and strategies of the Russian Empire of yesteryear and those of Russia today Moreover, Ukraine is itself a faulted country. What happens, in fact, in Ukraine there is just what appears to be, a battle between pro-western Ukrainians and Ukrainians pro-Eastern, but also a very complicated impact effect of a huge geopolitical game.
