Summary/Abstract: The development of alternative dispute resolution was a constant concern of the European Commission to encourage Member States in such an approach.Justification proposals and issues raised may have various explanations, such as certain remedies made of justice or finding much simpler solutions, less expensive and quicker solutions.Supported in general by practitioners and theorists, however, not infrequently their criticisms was numerous and came from doctrinarians disbelief in such a procedure.Despite all the obstacles our study tried to cover briefly the legislative evolution of the field, especially at EU level, systems and alternative media types that can be regulated by EU Member States both for disputes arising between a consumer and a trader in the same Member State and for the border ones.In this context it could not lack a brief description of the Directive 2013/11/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on alternative dispute resolution for consumer disputes, with news that it brings to the reference range.
