Summary/Abstract: Different visions of theories and practices related to the sociology of disasters, especially about crisis management, followed by recovery processes, need to come to a minimum consensus in order to achieve the success between strategies and the implementation of the necessary procedures in disruptive situations. The papers outlines how the two research areas, the main topics of study - hazards and disasters - were intersected and interconnected in a productive sociology of disasters with practical results. The main approaches in the sociology of disasters can be categorized into three main directions: disaster as a duplication of the war; disaster as an expression of social vulnerability; disaster as state of uncertainty.
