Jan Błoński’s First Article on Witold Gombrowicz

Summary/Abstract: Editor’s note and commentary to Błoński’s Between Rebellion and Runaway. Witold Gombrowicz’s “Ferdydurke”, published in this issue ("Between Rebellion and Runaway").This never before published article was presented by Jan Błoński in December 1949, during the conference of young Polish literary scholars. Originally it was a part of a larger paper presented together with Kazimierz Puzyna’s and Ludwik Flaszen’s remarks on S. I. Witkiewicz and B. Schulz. The tatty typescript of Błoński’s paper, marked with Author’s comments, was found in his archive and edited by Marian Zaczyński. Błoński’s article marks the beginning of his years-long investigations into Gombrowicz’s work.
