Summary/Abstract: Graphic design is one of the most important sectors in the present-day book publishing. The choice of appropriate visualization and typography plays a major role for the promotion of modern Bulgarian novel. An object of investigation in this article are the visual trends in presentation of book covers of contemporary Bulgarian novels, published by „Siela”, „Janet 45”, „Hermes” and „Colibri”. The ground of choosing this object was the rise of Bulgarian novel between 2013 - 2017 and causative growing interest from the side of these publishers. The purpose of this survey is to analyze the trends in the thematic directions of recent Bulgarian novels and to present the visualization and typography of their book covers. The research involves the rating of bestseller books of the biggest book store in Bulgaria – „Helikon”. The analysis of this selection shows best-selling Bulgarian novels in 2013 - 2017, published by the four biggest publishing houses in Bulgaria, their thematic features and the visual trends in graphic design.
