Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the phenomenon of ageing of the Polish society and discuss its consequences for the economy and the pension system. The article describes the ageing process of the Polish society which is the result of decline in fertility and lengthening of life expectancy. Moreover, the article presents the economic consequences of ageing of the Polish society. The supplement of the article is the presentation of the effects of demographic changes for the pension system.
