Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to attempt to identify the factors determining location of FDI in Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship (West Pomeranian Region) and the role of the region in the inflow of this form of capital to Poland. Research shows that Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship could not provide direct investors with market-related benefits owing to the region’s low GDP, small population size and a low absorption rate of the local market. On the other hand, investors could count on resource-related benefits such as availability of labour force, low salaries at relatively high productivity and convenient availability of transport. Decisions on locating FDI in the region were challenged by underqualified labour force. All these factors contributed to the region’s small significance both in terms of the total number of enterprises and total value of the capital raised. Nevertheless, further study is required to analyse the role of the investment climate and its relationship with FDI location. This problem has not been addressed here due to the limits of this study.
