PHILOSOPHIC TRENDS AND POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES – THEIR IMPACT ON RELIGIOUS FAITH AND LIFE

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this work is to offer a perspective of the history of philosophy, starting from its ancient beginnings and up to present times. However, this is not meant to be only a display of philosophical doctrines appearing in different stages of time, but undertakes to perform an in-depth study of such doctrines based on a benchmark subject, for this field, as well as for the general tendency of humanity: the tendency of knowing, but also the impact which such orientations shall have on religion and faith. The approach to such issue, i.e. knowing, commences from its two important roots: the spirit and the matter. The obvious progress of knowledge, as the fruit of thinking, is undisputedly strewn, up to the post-modern present, with conspicuous accents of empirical and rational – dogmatic domination.
