Summary/Abstract: Synechos, or the Eucharistic Permanence in the Paschal Ethos of the Church, is proposing an inroad into the 18th century in the midst of debates caused by the need for a rediscovery. The Philokalic Renaissance, intrinsically and obligatorily doubled by a rediscovery of the Eucharistic foundations of spiritual life, was the centre of this discovery. By engaging great dogmatists such as Athanasius Parios, and great spiritual fathers of ascetic life such as Nikodemus the Hagiorite, and complying with the requirements of cultural synchronicity of the epoch and a continuous fidelity to Tradition, the Philokalic Renaissance would build several topoi of the subsequent discourse of the Church. Romania would actively join this process, particularly through the work and activity of great personalities like the Saints Anthimos of Iviria and Paisius Velichkovsky. We are proposing, within this paper, a concise presentation of certain moments in the 18th century in the context of the Philokalic Renaissance, by emphasising the Eucharistic dimension in the spiritual life.
