Summary/Abstract: Discovery in mathematics is guided, as we have seen throughout this book, by modeling – one model (natural or artifactual) leading to another, and then to another, and so on. As the modeling process becomes more and more connective, it leads to the opening up of new vistas, new branches, new conceptualizations within the discipline. It is for this reason that we can call mathematics itself a modeling system, or more accurately a meta-modeling system.
