Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the figure of social representative in polish criminal procedure as distantecho of roman amicus curiae. There are some similarities in the concept of this type of court aide likelegal education to some extent or being competent in some sort of cases, acting on motion of courtsor working with the judge approval and impartiality vis-à-vis victim or defendant. The second partof the paper examines latest amendments of art. 90 of criminal procedure code with regard to legalgrounds of admission of social representative to the trial.
