Summary/Abstract: During the Principality of Transylvania (16th–17th), the state authorities, from prince to the local authorities, wanted to recover some treasures – mainly ancient coins,but also gold, silver goods or precious stones – discovered by chance or as a result ofsystematic excavations in the ground by peasants or townspeople. Transylvanian lawestablished how the values discovered were divided, an important percentage comingto the Institution of the Principality. The researched documents prove that more thanone treasure has been discovered in the ground of Bistriţa district.
