Summary/Abstract: As time limit for the 18th century in this context seems to be a feasible solution to take the period between the second siege of Vienna by the Ottoman army (1683) and the foundation of the autonomous status of Serbia (1817). This era brought to the countries of South Eastern Europe a lot of changes and symbolizes a time of serious challenges. It seems to be useful to reflect on the processes and phenomena under different “glasses” concerning the local, regional, national, imperial and European perspectives. On the one hand, this subject should not be studied separately by the existing disciplines, but together, for delivering more knowledge. On the other hand, this knowledge could also help us understand the actual complex situation in this era.
