Summary/Abstract: The study aims to briefly review the evolution of the German-speaking press from Bukovina before and after 1918, trying to answer the question if this could be considered or not an emanation of a “colonial” reality in the province annexed after 1774 to the Habsburg Empire and reincorporated with Romania after the First World War. The theoretical perspective offered by the postcolonial studies displays here certain nuances due to an almost unique specificity (not only quantitative but also qualitative) of the phenomenon in Central-European context.
