Summary/Abstract: The subject of the review are two books by Przemysław Kaniecki, devoted to literary and film work, and the journalistic achievements of Tadeusz Konwicki, one of the greatest Polish writers and filmmakers of the 20th century – “Wniebowstąpienia Konwickiego” [“Konwicki’s Ascensions”] (2013) and “Samospalenia Konwickiego” [“Konwicki’s Self-immolations”] (2014). The author analyses Kaniecki’s publications conceived and written as mutually complementary, discussing both existential and socio-political issues in Konwicki’s output. Kaniecki explores his literary achievements on a par with his achievements in film, striving to present the writer’s ideological path with particular emphasis on breakthrough moments and tendencies to be self-polemical. Kłobukowski proposes a reflection on the methodology adopted by Kaniecki, the way of interpreting the collected material and the composition of a two-volume monograph.
