Summary/Abstract: In this text I aim to make a comparative reading of the Kracauer’s and Boltanski’s books about the detective story, through the problems concerning the representation of the reality, the instrumental rationality and the image ofthe detective. Through these problems we will find the social conditions of possibility of this genre and we will try to answer the question why it is in the origin of conspiracy theories.
