Summary/Abstract: The article is written as an ethnographic description of folk arts (weaving and woodcarving) in the village of Caraşova, Caraş-Severin County in South-western Romania. Local weavers and woodcarvers are shown to express, based on their crafts, traits of the Croatian ethnic identity, as it has been preserved for several centuries in the afore-mentioned area. Oral-history interviews and photographs are evidences for the manner in which artisans in Caraşova represent today their own traditions, which are also discussed in comparison with further information on craftsmanship in Romania
