Summary/Abstract: The article aims to analyze the figure of the woman in the category of transgression as presented in the latest novel by Ornela Vorpsi entitled "Viaggio intorno alla madre" (2015). The argument has been di-vided into four sections. The first part defines the notion of transgression and discusses other relevant terms and theories that serve as the reference point for the tripartite analysis, an analysis that focuses on the protagonist’s stages of life. In the childhood period, Katrina’s difficult relationship with her parents is emphasized as a significant influence on her psyche. Brought up in a non-standard family, she becomes the victim of her mother’s and father’s behavior. As an adult, she engages in transgression herself, shockingly neglecting her son in order to cater to her own needs and desires. Vorpsi’s woman emerges as an independent and selfish individual, a collector of experiences who breaks social, moral and ethical norms.
