Teaching Theology and the Training of Pastors – at the Turn of the Century

Summary/Abstract: The paper offers an overview of the theological training in Hungarian protestant (Reformed) theological schools of higher education since the collapse of the communist regime over twenty-five years ago. First, the author sketches the institutional developments and re-establishing of colleges; and secondly evaluates various ecclesiastical and governmental expectations the academies (colleges) and multiprogram universities met. The Master of Divinity (MDiv) program of Debrecen Reformed Theological University (Hungarian: DRHE) serves as paradigm for demonstrating curriculum theory.
