Summary/Abstract: The author tries to summarise a) the various definitions of the scientific concept ‘ritual’; b) the functions of the ‘rituals’ in the course of the human life and its turning points; c) and its importance in religious education. On the basis of this literary review, the aithor suggests new practices for religious education. One of these new practices is the use of music as it has been introduced and represented in the life and work of Klara Kokas, a famous Hungarian music pedagogue. Klara Kokas’s music education is analysed and presented here as a rich selection of ‘ritual’ practices and thinkings, and as such its deep importance of the personality development of children.
