The history of Priebatsch family – renowned book sellers and publishers

Summary/Abstract: The article looks at the Jewish Priebatsch family, whose members engaged in the distribution of books and in publishing in Ostrów Wielkopolski, and subsequently in Breslau (Wrocław) and Jerusalem. The books and prints from their house have been known worldwide. The publishing house focused on educational works until its profile was widened to include Silesian regional writings.The Wrocław branch of the Priebatsch family hailed from Greater Poland. The text presents the family ties spanning many generations, while at the same time tidying up and rectifying frequently repeated errors on the subject, concerning the geological bonds among the family members.
