Summary/Abstract: The article evaluates the relationship between verbose nothingness and annihilation of the word by comparing Benjamin Fondane’s apologia for muteness and the criticisms of language in Eugène Ionesco - two friends of Emil Cioran’s who converge with him in the direction of silence – in order to better understand the Cioranian diagnosis of the evil of words.
