Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to bring to attention the problem of genuinereconciliation between the black native population of Australia and its (white)European settlers, who have been dominating the nation in terms of political, economic and cultural power since its foundation in 1901. The focus is on politicalspeeches stemming from open conflict to a formal Parliament’s apology formistreatment of, especially, Stolen Generations of the later 20th century, which alsohas got its reflections in some prominent works of Australian literature, like SallyMorgan’s My Place (1987) and Kim Scott’s Benang (1999).
