SECRET CONFRONTATION BETWEEN SOVIET AND FINNISH SPECIAL SERVICES FROM 1941 TO 1944: ATTITUDES, OBJECTIVES, RESULTS

Summary/Abstract: The article, written on the basis of the documents from the Russian Federal Security Service Central Archive, tells about the secret,but rather brutal confrontation between Soviet and Finnish special services, which took place from 1941 to 1944. Specific examples of the Finnish saboteurs’ activities in the Red Army’s rear and the measures taken by Soviet counterintelligence for their search,detention and elimination are given. The article presents information about the Soviet prisoners of war recruitment by Finnish special services and the results of this work. Positive results and shortcomings in the work of Soviet counterintelligence are specified.
