Summary/Abstract: The author analyses the work of contemporary Hungarian poet Attila Havasi, whose best verses are capable of operating with surprising shifts in perspective and inducing the experience of the Freudian "Unheimlich", in the aftermath of which it is impossible to continue our tranquile mundane existence. However, this is result is not arrived at by rational discourse, argument or logic, but through highly figurative speech, absurd imagery and playful sonic effects.
