Summary/Abstract: A long-lasting legend has maintained that the türbe of Sultan Suleyman had originally been located on the site of the shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at present-day Turbék. The research group established in 2013 for the identification of the sultan’s tomb has excluded the church from the group of potential locations, however. Yet this by no means meant that the shrine could have no precedent in the Ottoman period. In order to explore the problem, we have elaborated a complex methodology: alongside the written evidence, we have also examined the results of geophysical analyses and archaeological excavations and made intensive metal detector explorations. The present study is a summary of the results accumulated so far.
