Summary/Abstract: The person of Józef Piłsudski generated a cult around himself not only in his native Poland, but also in Hungary. The present paper examines, mainly on the basis of the press (daily papers), the image of Piłsudski in Hungary between 1919 and 1939. While both positive and negative images of him existed in Hungarian public opinion, the positive view enjoyed uncontested domination. This latter was projected by the analysed media on different occasions, such as the anniversaries connected to the person of Piłsudski.
