Summary/Abstract: If within the Greek mythos, Oedipus is the embodiment of the perfect victim, by being the author of a reiterated hybris through parricide and incest, for Radu Stanca he becomes a baroque character of whose soul is a “mixtum compositum”, full of oxymoronic contradictions, oscillating between defiance and invocation of the gods. We believe that within this very inner dualism of oscillation between the contraries (coincidentia oppositorum), we found the key to his option for freedom.
