Summary/Abstract: The subject of this study was the language of court judgments from a stylistic andpragmatic perspective. The analysis included verbal ways of presenting information inthis type of text and their relevance to the speech genre. The purpose of this researchproject was to analyze the court judgments as one of the possible variants of thecommunication of human activity, which regulates official and rational social relations.This article is devoted to linguistic ways of conceptualizing fragments of reality,which are subject to description in the texts of jurisdictional documents. The authoranswers the question whether the verbal form of expression corresponds to theconvention of the official document. Based on the results of the research, the authoridentifies the causes, objectives and effects of using selected categories of speech.The research method used was a pragmatic analysis. The textual samples wereanalyzed using the functional concept. The result of the research is the thesis that thelanguage of court judgments is a combination of the three: legal language, jurisprudencelanguage and doctrinal language. It was also a source of a communicational polymorphism.The analysis showed that the style of speech in this case was determined onthe one hand by the legislative acts, on the other – by the general and individualpragmatics of the court process.
