Summary/Abstract: The Druze community is one of the most exciting and enigmatic ethnoreligious groups in the Middle East. They seceded from the Seveners in the 11th century, and settled in the territories of today's Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and Palestine. While the Druze usually live in closed and religiously isolated communities, they were able to successfully integrate into the mainstream societies around them, not just in Levant but in the diaspora as well. The paper gives a general overview of the Druze community, including their relation to statehood.
